Loop 1 creates devices that combine human figures, materials, and gestures. Through the hybridisation of photography and video, these devices demonstrate a transition between appearance and disappearance. The photographic and video media, as well as the way they are presented, contribute to the dynamic interplay between appearance and disappearance, transition and hybridisation. The video monitors have thin frames comparable to floater or picture frames to establish a visual correspondence with the photographs.
Loop 2 involves the creation of devices driven by repetition. The works in Loop 1 are subject to time and extend the passage from one loop to another, while continuing the hybridisation of media in parallel. These devices result in the disappearance of the subject, favouring an accumulation of matter in darkness. The photographic and video media, as well as their presentation, evolve to participate in the interplay between appearance and disappearance, and the hybridisation of media. Frames are removed from both media and video monitors are presented vertically.
Loop 3 features devices driven by repetition. Some of the works in Loop 2 are subject to time and extend the passage from one loop to another, while continuing the hybridisation of media. These devices are even more oriented towards the disappearance of the subject in favour of an accumulation of matter in darkness. In photography and video, the accumulation of elements from the loop devices replaces the figure, shifting figuration towards abstraction. The media common to both photography and video contribute to the dynamic interplay of appearance and disappearance, as well as the hybridisation of the two forms. With a projection device and a space that dematerialises the image, this new medium provides a fresh perspective on video and photographic images.
